FolksbieneRU and Lost & Found Project, is bringing back the world premiere of a childrens musical The King of Chelm. The King of Chelm tells a story of a boy who dreams about becoming a super-hero. One day he wakes to find himself in a magical world where he learns what it is to be brave. In the upside-down and backwards universe of this small shtetl, Aaron together with the fools and the wise men of Chelm is going on a journey to find out what it really means to be a hero. This interactive performance invites audiences ages 4-12 to take part in a workshops following the performance at the Kraine Theatre and meet the characters of The King of Chelm more closely.
The King of Chelm is based on the poetry and short stories of well-known Soviet poet Ovsey Shike Driz translated by Mike Lion.
Acclaimed Israeli actor/Director Gera Sandler, who has directed The King of Chelm written by Boris Zilberman, remounting a cast of 7 New York based actors for it’s second run. The production features original score by composer Dmitri “Zisl” Slepovitch, score arranged by Alex Ryaboy. Stage and multimedia design by L2CoLAB.
The King of Chelm plays for 4 performances from November 14 – 29th , 2015. Performances are Saturday and Sunday at 1:00PM and Sundays at 2 p.m. There is no performance on Saturday, March 7.
